(a) Log Deck: On or about August 10, 2011, and at times prior thereto, the employer did not conduct monitoring to assess noise exposures for an employee using a chainsaw to manually delimb trees. (b) Log Deck: On or about August 10, 2011, and at times prior thereto, the employer did not conduct monitoring to assess noise exposures for an employee operating a Link-Belt Delimber 3400. (c) On or about August 10, 2011, and at times prior thereto, the employer did not conduct monitoring to assess noise exposures for an employee using a chainsaw to manually fell trees. Abatement Note: Where employees noise exposures equal or exceed 85 decibels over an 8-hour time-weighted average, the employer must administer a continuing, effective hearing conservation program, as described in paragraphs (c) through (o) of this section. This must include but is not limited to: 1. additional monitoring where exposure levels may increase (new equipment, process, etc); 2. baseline and annual audiometric testing; 3. providing suitable hearing protectors from which employees can choose; and 4. training on the hazards of noise and the hearing conservation program, to be repeated annually.
