29 CFR 1910.1000(c): An employee(s) was exposed to Crystalline Silica in excess of the 8-hour time weighted average limits of crystalline silica, listed in Table Z-3, in excess of the time-weighted average permissible exposure limit: a) Fabrication shop: On or about August 30, 2012, and at times prior thereto, the eight-hour time weighted average (TWA) exposure to crystalline silica quartz for an employee dry grinding granite stone, was determined to be 1.445 milligrams per cubic meter of air (mg/m3) which was over the calculated Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 0.37 mg/m3 based on the samples silica content of 25%. b) Fabrication shop: On or about August 30, 2012, and at times prior thereto, the eight-hour time weighted average (TWA) exposure to crystalline silica quartz for an employee dry grinding granite stone, was determined to be 2.231 milligrams per cubic meter of air (mg/m3) which was over the calculated Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 0.417 mg/m3 based on the samples silica content of 22%. c) Fabrication shop: On or about August 30, 2012, and at times prior thereto, the eight-hour time weighted average (TWA) exposure to crystalline silica quartz for an employee dry grinding granite stone, was determined to be 3.402 milligrams per cubic meter of air (mg/m3) which was over the calculated Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 0.476 mg/m3 based on the samples silica content of 19%.
